The 1992 Los Angeles riots left a deeply wounded and divided city. In the aftermath, the Museum of Tolerance became a place that made healing possible. Our programs were established through a partnership between public safety professionals and community leaders who recognized that leadership development and trust-building require more than good intentions or theory. They require a dedicated space for honest dialogue, meaningful engagement, and continued practice.
These programs were designed for public safety professionals at every stage of their careers from recruits/trainees who have yet to experience their first day on the job to seasoned leaders who are seeking to leave their profession better than they found it. We welcome both sworn and non-sworn staff.
Regardless of rank, role, or years of experience, participants gain practical tools to strengthen leadership, build trust, and foster meaningful relationships within their organizations and with the communities they serve.
We begin in story
Survivor testimony is the entry point. The exhibits and primary sources are tools for structural analysis, not backdrop. Dialogue is how we learn, and emotion is treated as information, not something to move past.
